14:30: Programma 1 ‘Amorous Friday 1’

D.W. Griffith 167′

DW Griffith, one of the major filmmakers from the silent era, his iconic masterpiece Intolerance is coming to the Netherlands Silent Film Festival! Costs nor labour were spared during the enormous production, which tells four different stories of the intolerance through the history of mankind. The fall of Babylon, the crucifying of Christ, the St. Bartholomew’s Day massacre during the France renaissance and a current story of injustice are woven into one united story and slowly collide into an impressive climax.

An absolute milestone in the history of film which no movie fanatic should miss!

20:00 Program 2: Opening Night ‘Amorous Friday 2’

During the opening night, as well as the second part of the Amorous Friday, we’ll treat you to the seldom shown films of Buster Keaton. The highlight of the night is Keaton’s THREE AGES. A parody of D.W. Griffith’s masterpiece INTOLERANCE, which will be shown in the afternoon during Part 1 of the Amorous Friday. Keaton fights bravely to win over his love in three parallel stories, played in different time periods, while riding on dinosaurs in the stone age, chariot racing in ancient Rome and trying to prevent his love from marrying a criminal in modern times.

Previous to this, we will take a look behind the scenes of a Vaudeville theatre, where Buster Keaton and Ruscoe ‘Fatty’Arbuckle are working as stagehand. However, after a ‘small accident’ they have to perform the whole show with just the two of them!

It will be a night you don’t want to miss, so order your tickets here
